A new video series from TechTAC aims to help dealers, operators, and rig crews get the best performance and longevity from their tubing anchors. The videos highlight TAC best practices and use cases for TechTAC’s most popular anchors.
Luke Reary, TechTAC’s director of sales and product management, hosts the new series. While TechTAC offers an extensive library of product documentation, the videos provide a quick, easy-to-digest overview of TAC best practices and benefits for the original Slimline® TAC, the Slimline® QuickSet™ TAC, and the Slimline® Full Bore TAC.
TAC Best Practices for the Slimline Tubing Anchor
In the first video, Luke Reary provides a hands-on demonstration of the original Slimline TAC. First and foremost, he explains how the Slimline Tubing Anchor Catcher is not a speciality anchor. It has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to increase production, decrease downtime, and mitigate the impact of formation gas and scale for a wide range of rod-pump wells. He also emphasizes the importance of tightening subs, cycling the anchor, and tightening exterior bolts and screws before sending any TAC into the field. Watch the video below.
The Slimline QuickSet TAC for Deep or Deviated Wells
The second video overviews the Slimline QuickSet TAC. Rig crews can set this anchor in just 1-to-3 rotations, making it ideal for deep or deviated wells. Most mechanical anchors require 6-to-8 rotations to be fully set. Getting that torque from the surface down to the TAC in a deviated or corkscrewed well can be very challenging. The Slimline QuickSet anchor provides a compelling alternative. Among several best practices shared, Luke explains that the optimal placement of the Slimline QuickSet Tubing Anchor Catcher in a horizontal well is in the vertical portion of the well, just above the kickoff point. Watch the video below.
A New Innovation: The Slimline Full Bore TAC
The final video highlights TAC best practices and benefits for the Slimline Full Bore TAC, TechTAC’s latest anchor innovation. The anchor combines a slim OD with a full bore ID (2.40″ on the 5.5″ model). This design allows a slim-style TAC to be deployed above the pump in a 5.5-inch well using 2-7/8-inch tubing. Similar to the Slimline QuickSet anchor, the Slimline Full Bore Tubing Anchor Catcher sets in a reduced number of rotations. That benefit increases the importance of adding a right-hand turn to the tubing every 3-to-5 stands while running in the anchor. Watch the full video below.
