Reduced OD. Full Bore ID.

A 5.5” slim-style anchor that can be placed above the seat nipple in 2-7/8” tubing with the pump running through it, helping to combat gas locking, plugging and more.

A Revolutionary Tubing Anchor

The New Slimline® Full Bore TAC

For years the Slimline® Tubing Anchor Catcher has helped petroleum engineers and field personnel mitigate the effects of gas interference and scale buildup by providing up to 245% more flow-by area than a standard B2 anchor. Occasionally, however, the requirements of a specific well design can limit the use of the Slimline TAC.

Wells with 5.5” casing and 2-7/8” tubing used to be one such example. If the design mandated the tubing anchor be placed above the seat nipple, the 5.5” Slimline TAC wasn’t an option. But the patent-pending Slimline Full Bore TAC from TechTAC® has eliminated that constraint.

What our customers say

Success for Early Adopters

Many of your peers in the industry - including service companies, engineers, field operators and rig crews - have already experienced the value of the Slimline Full Bore TAC.

“All three wells [we switched to the Slimline Full Bore TAC] went from producing roughly 40 barrels per day to approximately 80 barrels per day – a 100 percent increase.”

— Production superintendent

“One problem well averaged about 30 days between workovers because of gas and sand. After running the Slimline Full Bore TAC, that well ran for 140 days without downtime.”

— Production engineer

“The [Slimline Full Bore TACs] work well for gas interference issues in our wells.... We’ve seen a 25- to 30-percent increase in the volume of gas being discharged on the surface.”

— Production superintendent

Sizes & Specifications

Today the Slimline Full Bore TAC is available for 5.5” wells, as noted in this specifications chart, which also compares the measurements of the 5.5” Slimline Full Bore TAC with the original Slimline and a standard B2 TAC of the same size. A 7.0” version of the new anchor is currently under development. The innovative Slimline Full Bore TAC leverages a unique patent-pending design. This approach provides significantly more flow-by area around the anchor while still maintaining an ID large enough to allow rod pumps designed for 2-7/8” tubing to pass through it. Wells with 2-7/8” tubing and a TAC above the seat nipple can now take advantage of the Slimline anchor benefits.

Running the TAC Downhole

Same Setting Procedure

The Slimline Full Bore TAC follows the same setting and releasing procedures as the original Slimline TAC and standard B2 anchors, so there’s no additional learning curve for rig crews and operators.

In fact, thanks to its unique design, in most cases the anchor will fully set in 3-to-5 rotations at the tool, as opposed to 6-to-8 turns for a traditional mechanical tubing anchor. Like all of TechTAC’s products, the Slimline Full Bore Tubing Anchor Catcher is also manufactured and assembled in the United States by expert machinists and mechanics.
